Mastering your sound
To add that final sparkle to your final mix we have to outsource. We have some good friends over the in LA: Peter Hewitt-Dutton, Mastering Engineer at The Bakery. He has mastered a lot of our clients, and our own music. Check out the sounds.
Peter Hewitt-Dutton started his mastering career in late 2011 at the Metropolis Studios in Chiswick, London, UK. In the Summer of 2018, he comes to The Bakery®, bringing with him the best in British mastering techniques and vinyl cutting, including experience cutting half-speed and direct to disc.
Prior to his stint at Metropolis, whilst completing his degree at the University of Manchester, Peter went to work at the legendary Ocean Way Studios in California. It was here he developed and honed his scrupulous eye for detail and listening skills under the guidance of the greats in the business like Jack Joseph Puig (Green Day, The Rolling Stones) and Allen Sides (Joni Mitchell, Mary J Blige). At Metropolis Mastering, he was mentored by the very best in UK Mastering including noted engineers such as Ian Cooper (David Bowie, Peter Gabriel), Tim Young (The Clash, Massive Attack) and Stuart Hawkes (Amy Winehouse, Ed Sheeran). Peter specializes in the much sought after field of half speed cutting, where globally only a select few mastering engineers are capable of this skill. Peter’s mastering credits include a #1 Album in Italy with ‘Made In London’ by Noemi, Black Sabbath’s very last concert and studio recording “The End”, Aine Cahill’s debut single “Plastic” and the film Kill Your Friends Original Soundtrack Recording. Peter was also heavily involved in the Led Zeppelin remastering project over the past few years. Working as part of a very small group of engineers, Peter was mainly responsible for the restoration and noise reduction work needed on the 40-year-old material. Noted vinyl cutting credits include live albums for the Rolling Stones “Sweet Summer Sun” (Hyde Park concert) and “Havana Moon” (Havana, Cuba concert) as well as Public Enemy’s “Live at Metropolis”. Half Speed cutting credits include the first 3 Oasis remasters (alongside assisting the remastering by Ian Cooper). Live to Vinyl cuts include the Rag ’n’ Bone Man 2018 Record Store Day Release “Don’t Set the World on Fire” and the Mystery Jets “The Whole of the Moon”. Peter is excited to be the newest member of The Bakery, where he aims to continue pushing what is possible with vinyl. |
